LIBERTY OF THE TYRANTS. And Other Poems of Love, Exile, and Resistance (eBook, poetry) by Taja Kramberger
This book contains the best anti-oppressive and defiant poems by Taja Kramberger, written during the brutal period of the university purge at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Primorska/Littoral in Koper (2010–2012). The poet survived the purge and a social murder in her native Slovenia during this time. This small, invisible country is the perfect example of a camouflage democracy that commits its (perfect) invisible crimes in plain sight of the EU. Furthermore, nobody cares. The poems are from the poet's two best collections (From the Edge of a Cliff, 2011 and In Your Embrace, There is a Place for Me, 2014) before her exile and permanent emigration to France in 2016. The poems depict the general patterns of social dysfunction in a society based on the code of omertà and normalized dissimulation, which provoke harsh violence and lynching. This is one of Kramberger's most popular books, with universal poetic and social value. The book has stood the test of time (15 years) and is more relevant today than when it was first published. And its value continues to grow.
